A Whimsical Makeover: The Drab Dresser Edition

Since school has started, I have been a bit late to the garage sale game. I can now only go on Saturdays and the pickings are a bit slim by then. So imagine my excitement when I arrive at a large sale and I am able to buy MULTIPLE furniture items.  I was excited about this piece because the drawers worked really well and the body was in great shape. The price was pretty great too.

However, once I got it home, I noticed that it lacked any sort of detail or interesting character. How on earth would I showcase anything on this piece of furniture!?!?!?

*Enter Flea Market Magazine* - This months issue of the magazine had an amazing table done with a dark top and amazing distressed and waxed legs. So off to the shop I went to pick up Annie Sloan's Olive.

I painted a combination of the Old Ochre and Olive. Both colors were very easy to work with. This was nice but not the look I was going for yet. Now on to distressing and some heavy waxing.
Check it out!

Now it is waiting patiently at Carter's Cottage for its forever home.

I love being inspired by other bloggers. Check out my inspiration.

  3. Great color mix. I love ASCP. You are WAY braver than me in distressing and unique paint use. So far I paint, damp sand a bit and wax (usually clear) but I am experimenting with dark wax over clear.
