A Whimsical Makeover: Console Table Edition

Before
I have had this table for several years and it was on my "makeover" list. The legs were already beautifully distressed and I didn't want to mess with them. However, the top was rather bland. I used the same paint that I used for the desk and started dry brushing the top and sides. After that was dry and sanded, I used an antiquing glaze to give it an aged look. Then I waxed it to seal it. I am in love with the finished product. This table is available for purchase. Price $60

A Whimsical Makeover - The Desk Edition

Ron found this desk at the curb and grabbed it up right away. It was solid wood but it rough shape. All it needed was a heavy amount of sanding and some really pretty paint. I painted it a beautiful creamy buff and did a faux desk mat on the top in a turquoise color. This desk is available for $65.

A Few Good Wreaths

I was given the task of creating a "baby wreath" for my good friend Jenny to give as a gift. This parents of the adorable child enjoy modern decor and decorated the little ladies room in lime green (my favorite color) and black. It is beautiful...modern circles and zebra. I totally loved it but it was SO out of my comfort zone. I love old, rustic and cream. I accepted the challenge and enjoyed making it. Here is what I came up with:
I apologize for the poor picture quality. I took this at 6:00am as the sun was coming up so I could deliver it promptly.
I have also done a few new twig wreaths as well. I LOVE them and they are moving out of here quickly.

New Wreath - Magenta

I have been really excited to play with several new color combinations and this is one of my new favorites.  I am trying to build my inventory of twig wreaths because they have been flying off of the shelves very quickly. Please share with me your idea for new color combinations. I would love to hear what you are interested in. You may also view my Esty link below.

Whimsical Makeover - Formal Chair Edition

Before
Do you remember that old Flea Market chair I purchased this month? Well..it has new life now thanks to sanding, primer, paint, wax and love. I used outdoor fabric for the chair cushion. Not only is it a beautiful print, it also is extremely durable.

This chair is available for purchase.

Antique/Yard Sale Find

My friend Jenny told me about a yard sale at Amazing Grace Antiques in Elburn this weekend. I had never been to the store but driven by it many times thinking "I need to go in there". This was the perfect excuse to do some antiquing. I saw many cute items and will probably go back soon when it is not so busy to purchase more. However, I did come across two really neat ammunition boxes.  Though I am excited to repurpose them into something a bit more "whimsical", I am going to keep the rustic integrity of the boxes intact. Just a little poly and love. :)

Message Board finished!

Our last Message board was grabbed up very quickly. Here is one we just finished today. Dry Erase markers work beautifully on the glass windows. This one is backed with bead board. We are constantly searching for windows to create more of these. If you are interested in a particular color or style, let us know. We will make one to meet your needs.
Message Board - $45 - if you look closely, you can see our cat, Mistofelees.

Grandma's Shelf - The Already Told Story

Some of you may know the story of my Grandma's shelf but it is such a great story I would love to tell it again. :)

7 or 8 years ago, I made a dumb decision to sell a 2 drawer chest at a garage sale. My grandmother gave it to me but I needed the money and I was too young and stupid to realize I was selling something with sentimental value. I regretted doing this as soon as the money switched hands at the sale. I have been thinking about it for the last 7 years.
Well, over Spring Break, my mom and I were shopping at one of my favorite DeKalb shops and we came across the exact cabinet I sold. Same broken piece from when my mom was little and same stain on the top that I put on it in college. I purchased it immediately. Something told us to go back through that shop for the 2nd time that day and this is when we saw it. It was fate! Rarely do you get a redo. When it happens, Take it!

That brings us to today. I refinished the cabinet and I am proudly posting it for all to see. This cabinet is not for sale. ;) I will not make that mistake twice.

P.S. You may be wondering about that shop in Dekalb. Come back later this week for my post about that particular store :)

Bright and Sunny

I have made several Twig Wreaths and they have been very popular. This is one I made because my friend Jez said she wanted something summery to brighten her door. This sure is bright! I LOVE this one. I currently have it on my front door. My twig wreaths run $35.
I am looking forward to some special order requests to help me expand my color horizons. Thanks Jez for the idea!

Rustic Vase Holders: Part 2

So do you remember those Vase Holders that I gave my Mom for Mother's Day (if not, check the post below this one)?  Well, she sent me a photo of them "in action". We are currently making 3 more sets yet to be painted. Custom colors available.

I am very excited about our new project. These turned out perfectly. Ron and I spent most of yesterday engrossed in measuring, cutting, staining, painting and sanding. Shown Here: Set of 3 vase holders - 15in, 13in, 11in - $45 vases are included.
Are you thinking that you have a trio of vases that you would like to do this with? Well...let us custom make something for you. Custom colors and sizes also available.

Free Gift Wrap and a Wine Bag!!!!

May Promotion - Free Wine Bag with purchase. These make a great hostess gift and can be re-gifted to new friends.
I have been struggling to figure out how to properly wrap the wreaths. I came up with the idea of large envelopes and I attempted to construct them last night. I was SO pleased with how they turned out. Each wreath fits nicely into their own pocket and is delivered with a whimsical bow.

Flea Market Day!

We had a very successful day today at the Kane County Flea Market. We had a huge list and purchased some of the big items on it. I was also very pleased with our bargains.  I have included pictures of our finds with some little notes about them.  I am most excited about one of the windows. We sold one of our message boards recently and have really missed it. One of these will be ours to keep. :)  We also have some very exciting items coming within the next month if you like "primitives" or "farm chic". It might be a VERY busy summer. It was a great day for Whimsical Perspective.
We found this on the side of the road and grabbed it right away. It is in pretty dirty but the bones are good. I am excited to see the results of some cleaning and painting.

Flea Market Finds! We were able to purchase 3 small windows, 3 large windows, 1 chair and 6 ball jars. Yay!!!

Ball Jars

These are a recent dumpster dive find. These will become a line of  "planter chairs". These will be fun.
