A few good wreaths for a few good friends!

I work with the 4 most amazing women in the universe and I wanted to show my appreciation by making a few great wreaths. I made one for each of our 5 rooms with our initials of our last names. I also tried some new things and did some things that I love. Oh yes... of course I forgot to take a picture of mine. It is the one with the green flowers. :)
Here are the rest:

Whimsical Perspective: The School Edition

It has been a while since my last post and I promise that I have not been procrastinating or lounging on a tropical island somewhere. It was time for me to take off my blogger/crafter/painter hat and put on my teacher hat. I was so excited to get the room ready for my newest bunch of kiddos. Now that the year has begun and the learning is happening, I hope to be able to get back into a regular Whimsical Perspective schedule. It may not be as often but I promise, it will be good. :)

A Whimsical Makeover - The Drop-Leaf Table Edition

A few months ago I purchased this table from a friend's garage sale. I have purchased several items from her that you have already seen. I also purchased the chairs at a similar time. I found 3 matching chairs but that is an odd number so I chose to pair 2 of them with this table. As you can see from the picture, they DO NOT MATCH.  I wasn't so worried about that. They were all in good shape and that is what counts.
I chose to do a new color called Old Violet and it was delightful. See for yourself.
I trimmed the table and chairs in Old White and then painted everything in Old Violet. When I sanded them, the Old White peaked through. It is lovely. I covered the chairs with a creamy textured home fabric and it turned out beautifully. It truly is the prefect dusty violet! These are currently at Carter's Cottage.

It's Official - I can't hang with the big dogs but it's ok. :)

So today I attended a lovely Wednesday Garage Sale. I have been drooling over the ad in the paper since Monday. It started at 8:30 so I arrive at 7:45 just to scope it out and see the parking situation. I am usually not an early bird but this one sounded amazing. I didn't leave my car until 8:15 because I hate to be the pushy one.
I was not the only one who was ready for the sale! Many of the other local vendors and shop owners were there with their combat gear on (I kid)! It was so fun to watch them work. As soon as the gates opened, the craziness started. There was running and pushing and slapping post-its on things. These ladies were out for blood...or at least a really cool primitive table. I tried to find items and watch them at the same time. I think I did more watching because I was in total awe of them but I did ok. :) Here are the items I purchased today and a few from last weekend.
I LOVE mirrors. I am excited to see what becomes of these. I also love the colors of the utensil handles. Those might stay with me. The corn mold matches one I bought at thrift store yesterday. I will save those for Corn Fest.
I can't wait to play with that desk and little cabinet! I wonder what they will turn into...
So these were my finds. Not bad for a Wednesday.

A Whimsical Makeover - The Foyer Table Edition

Here is a very sweet foyer table.  I purchased it at a garage sale a few weeks ago and I couldn't wait to get started. I removed the old hardware that had an imprint of an eagle. Not my kinda style. I chose to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I didn't have to sand or prime. What a glorious thing!
I was going for a distressed/shabby/frenchy look and I am in LOVE with the finished product.

Here she is...
I painted 2 coats of Old White then added a few layers of clear and dark wax. I am still using Minwax Clear Wax but I am now using Annie Sloan Brown Wax. It is so much more fun than the glaze I was using before!
I love how this paint distresses. Look at that detail!!!!
I also love the contrast of the green grass with this table. Maybe not having a photo space in my house isn't a terrible thing. I am sure my neighbors think I am nuts when I drag a new piece of furniture into the front yard to photograph every few days.
I hope you enjoyed my foyer table. I am off to work with my newest color...Old Violet!
