We moved into our new (old) house less than 2 months ago and my husband is very determined to get it up to our standards immediately.
After being in the house about 1 week, our kitchen was almost gutted. That was the only real major project. Everything else in the house is just cosmetic.
We decided to go with the foyer next because it was the first impression people get of our house. It was somewhat of a poor representation.
We had several frustrations with it.
1: It was very yellow.
2. It was very dark.
3. Yucky 70's door.
4. Stick-on tile parquet flooring
One of the issues with those closet doors was that they were directly across from an awesome original door with an amazing mirror.
Seriously amazing door, right?!?!?
So here is the result of my husband's hard work.
It is a very tight area to photograph. I did my best. (If you peek through to the next room, you can see he has primed the next set of built-ins. Look for that post to come soon.)
Now we have a cute space to welcome guests, hang their coats and place some of our pretties. Stay tuned for more Whimsical Makeovers: The Husband Edition.

ReplyDeletePERFECT!! Love that bench area and the built ins are amazing!! So bright and airy now!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dramatic change! Love the floors and the built ins, closet doors had to go! Too bad that dark old radiator is still lurking under there...But still an amazing transformation! Wish I had one of 'him' kicking around :)
ReplyDeleteOh I totally love this. How clever and what a super idea. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteLove, love, love old houses! Great job.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a husband who liked change. My husband is a function over fashion kind of guy usually. He thinks if it works why change it! I have to do lots of persuasion. Your entry is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely. The door is amazing and I love how you lightened everything up!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it! Great job, your hubby is very talented! Visiting from Chic on a Shoestring Decorating
