Some Fun with Spray Paint

I have been drooling over antique bird cages for a while now but I just can't spend $100+ dollars on one. So when I saw this one at Goodwill for $7, I grabbed it. It is not old but it came with a stand. I knew I could use the stand to display wreaths but I wasn't sure what to do with the cage. So on Friday, I headed outside with a good amount of spray paint and started to transform this into a new display item.
I began to spray the whole thing with a creamy off-white. It covered beautifully. Then I sprayed just a bit of the darker colors for a hint of age. It became a little dark so I sprayed more while over it.

It was as easy as that! Now I have a beautiful display cage.
I placed 2 Ball jars underneath and filled them with cut Hostas. I got the idea of the Hostas from my friend Sherrie's Studio Opening. She had them clustered in her beautiful vases and the green color of them was stunning. I have a backyard full of them so I cut away!

Love!

  1. This is beautiful! It would also look cute with a terrarium inside, same color combos with the hue of the glass jars and green plants. Nice!
