A Wall of Maps

We are attempting to fill all of the nooks and crannies in our house. One of the spaces that was driving us crazy is a large wall in our living room. 

It was just a plain and empty space with all of the potential in the world. We choose to do a working wall. This is phase one and we hope to help it grow.

We are lucky enough to live about an hour away from our favorite city, Chicago. We love to walk around the different neighborhoods, photograph the beautiful scenery and take the walk to the zoo. This is the city where we spend our 1st and 10th wedding anniversaries. 

This wall of maps was inspired by Chicago.

We took advantage of Michael's canvas sales and purchased several. We Mod Podged our favorite vintage Chicago maps to the canvases. We also added a print we purchased at the Kaneland Fine Arts Festival (the district where I work). It is a beautiful sketch of the Wrigley building and the river. This scene is special to us because I have a beautiful picture of my parents, with this building in the background, on my dad's 60th birthday.

Over time, we are going to add our own pictures from the city. We will also change up the chalkboard often. 
The chalkboard is my husbands responsibility. He loves to draw new pictures.

You may also be wondering about the (fabulous) folding chairs in the living room.  We are currently getting our floors refinished in the living room and dining room. So our furniture is stacked on our front porch. Ron is working on a built-in and new fireplace surround in this room as well. We seem to live in a constant state of dust and construction. Maybe this will be our last project for a while...probably not. :)
