Welcome to a new blog series dedicated to the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colors.

Here is my disclaimer:
I am not an official Annie Sloan Stockist. I work and sell at a store that carries the paint and I LOVE painting with it. These are my thoughts and my thoughts only. Proceed at your own risk. ;)
I am currently working on a post about my top 5 Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colors. Primer Red will absolutely be on that list. This is a warm and powerful color that is very reminiscent of the beautiful old barns here in the Midwest.
It is a bit more subtle than Emperor's Silk while still being a beautiful red. It fits beautifully into a farmhouse inspired house like mine.
Here is my most recent project - Primer Red Dresser
|Primer Red with Clear and Dark Wax|
Here is my favorite Primer Red Project: The Farmhouse Cabinet
|Primer Red and Cream with Clear and Dark Wax|
Color: Primer Red
Coverage: Good to Excellent - Covers similarly to Old White or Coco. All of these pieces are using 1 to 1 1/2 coats to cover.
Great Pairings: This color looks great with Cream, Louis Blue, Old White and Country Grey
Would I use this again?: Yes, Yes, Yes! I just painted a very special piece for myself. I can't wait to share it.
Clear or Dark: Dark. This color can look maroon/pink/purple with just clear wax. It becomes bold and beautiful when you put the dark wax over the clean. I have also used a dark wax glaze right on top of the paint.
Final Thoughts: Love... just love. This is a color that I will always have on hand. It looks beautiful on every piece I put it on. If you are looking for a true red, this is not for you. If you want a muted and aged red, this is it.
Thanks for checking in.
