Living Room Reveal - Part 2

I am excited to show and tell my favorite parts of our living room reveal.

I have shared with you the story of the living room in Part 1 of the reveal.
Now I would like to talk to you about the details of this room.

Let's start with the new built-in.

We removed an odd built-in from this crazy space and were contemplating building our own. However, it became very complicated and we had a hard time wrapping our minds around it.
We needed it to be large and well done because it needed to ancor our enormous tv (compromise with the husband). We desperately wanted it to look original to the house.

Our dream was to incorporate this cabinet:
This antique cabinet was exactly what we wanted but as you can see, it is much too small.

However, I wasn't ready to give up on the idea just yet. I had recently worked with the very talented cabinet maker, Doug Henry, on another project. I called him and asked him if he could help. He agreed and was over within a few days to take measurements. He works extremely quickly and the quality of his work is AMAZING.

See for yourself:
Yes, that is the original cabinet with Doug's additions. He even worked in a special treat for us.

Now we have someplace to hide our tv trays. Genius!
This amazing cabinet turned out so much better than we had ever imagined it would.

I finished it by painting it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - French Linen. In fact, I painted all of the built-ins on this wall in French Linen.

I wanted our new (old) mantel to be predominately French Linen but also stand out a bit. I chose to do an undercoat of Aubusson.
It turned out amazing!

I topped it off with a dry brush of ASCP Pure White.

I can't wait to spend more time in this space.

It is a perfect space to just relax.

Thanks for checking in!

  1. Oh wow, I LOVE the gray!! It's so chic and almost industrial looking which sets off your fireplace and pretty blue walls. Thanks for stopping by today...I'll be back to see what other great projects you've got cookin' ;)
