The Living Room Reveal - Part 1

The project that has been going on for months is finally finished.

It was SO worth all of the crazy hard work.

Here is the before:
Dark and Dated

We made a list of what needed to be changed:
Fake stained glass windows
80's Fireplace mantel
Shiny marble surround
Carpet
Wall color

We tried to live with it for a while. I will admit, I did have fun playing with the fireplace mantel.
Christmas 2012
So, we started with the floor in November and have been slowly working around the room. We hit MANY obstacles along the way. The most notable was the fireplace tile.
There was nothing really holding up the brick underneath. It seemed to be held together by friction.

We also had a crazy idea to build-in an old cabinet.

Easier said than done. We contracted this piece out to Doug Henry of Little Nook Cabinetry.
He made that sad cabinet into something amazing. Here is a glimpse of his work:

So now it is done and my poor tired husband is in bed early on a Friday night trying to recover from a mad dash at the end. Oh, did I mention that we were getting it ready for a party at our house last night? We are officially crazy.

Here is our finished Living Room:

Remember that cabinet? Isn't it amazing?!?

New Fireplace Mantel

The second part of this reveal will have more about the custom cabinet, the ASCP I used and a few more detailed shots. I will probably be including some of new flea market finds from this weekend. :)
