DIY Picture Display - Salvaged Barn Wood

I had a problem.

I received this amazing rooster drawing as a gift from Cindy and Barry Gazso of Studio 184. I love it. It makes me smile.

Well, the clipboard wasn't cutting it as a picture display. You know me though, I wasn't going to go to a box store and buy a frame.

Not my thing.

So I scoured the flea markets for something that is worthy of displaying this beautiful art.

Months went by and I didn't find what I was looking for. So it just hung on the fridge or sat on the clipboard.

Finally, I decided to make something.

I had some salvaged barn wood in the garage that needed to be used for something. Pallet wood would be great for this also.

I cut the barn wood into two 16 inch pieces.

Then, I glued the wood pieces together and secured in place with another scrap piece of wood that I had laying around. I screwed the scrap wood into place for extra security.

Now, I needed to use something decorative to secure my rooster to his new home. I used leftover upholstery tacks and they gave me that look I was going for.

Now it can be beautifully displayed easily in any room of my house.

I am working on a farmhouse inspired mantel and the rooster fits perfectly here.
