Stenciled Floor Porch Reveal

Last Fall, we were knee deep in house renovations. I styled our porch but it never really turned out how I wanted. It lacked an identity or anything memorable.  I am drawn to color and this poor porch was very brown.

I had been wanting to do something bold and colorful in this room and the time was right when I was contacted by Cutting Edge Stencils to do a review of one of their products. I chose to use the Charlotte stencil.

Once the stencil was chosen, I needed to pick a color palette. I surprised myself by falling in love with a lavender shade for the floor.

I love how it all turned out!

I went to Sherwin Williams for help with my paint choice since this was a 3 seasons room. They suggested exterior paint. (see below for all paint colors)

I had never stenciled something this large before. I was a bit overwhelmed by the thought of the task. It was a lengthy process but overall very easy and enjoyable.

I had to clean of my stencil a few times to help keep the lines crisp. The latex paint peeled right off for easy cleaning. The process took about 8 hours total over 2 days. Then I let the paint sit a cure for a few more days before I moved the furniture back in.

I accented with bold colors and airy decor. It is an amazing place to relax now.

I hope to use this room as inspiration for the next several projects in our house. We took a risk and it payed off.

Even Cooper loves it. :)

Later this week, I will be writing just about the floor process. Stay tuned...

  5. Omigoodness Laura, this is absolutely gorgeous!!! Love the color choice and the yellow coffee table is a perfect choice next to the lavender. Is the Sherwin Paint an exterior floor paint or just an exterior paint like you would use on the siding?
